Music & Art

Beginning in first grade, students receive weekly music instruction by a credentialed music teacher. Performances during the school year demonstrate achievement in vocal music and dramatic play. Students are provided opportunities to study many types of music and to play several instruments. After-school classes are offered to students to take lessons on a wind or string instrument with a qualified teacher for a small fee.

Art instruction is integrated into all subject areas and is provided by the classroom teacher on an on-going basis. Additionally, all students participate in a monthly art lesson provided by a contracted art teacher.  In this program they learn the visual art standards, art vocabulary and techniques, as well as learn about famous artists throughout the year.  LAEF-sponsored after school classes are offered for students in all grades. The PTA also provides additional opportunities for art appreciation through the Reflections Contest and special assemblies.
